Get to know me first
For this week's post I'm not going to say much because the video below from User Voice says it so much better than I can. It is massively inspiring with some profound truths, not least that many YOT workers and social workers etc. put the cart before the horse and instead of trying to understand and help young offenders as people first, they jump in and try to stop them offending without knowing and understanding them, which will never work.
This echoes the underlying message of so many of my posts: unless you know their story, their pain and their real difficulties as told by them, you will never find the care and compassion they need to see to ever be able to help them make the best decisions for themselves. If you don't listen to them, they won't listen to you.
I am inspired by their courage, not only in facing their issues but in meeting with so many people, some very influential to try and change things for everyone. If I had a hat, I would take it off to them.
Anyway, enough of me. Over to them...
